Purim Palooza 2024

The event scheduled for 23 Mar was canceled due to weather.

Stephanie Abrams, award-winning mime, contortionist, and circus arts coach and director, is excited to share her and her students’ acts with us, and intends to produce a BAJC fundraiser on a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon/early evening sometime between now and the end of June.  Stay tuned for details!

at the Vermont Jazz Center
72 Cotton Mill Hill, Brattleboro

Foot tapping jazz will be provided for dancing by The Butterfly Jazz Quartet, with Amanda Bernhard vocals, Cathy Martin on keyboard, James Daggs on bass and Joe LoMonaco on drums. These local musicians are well-known favorites, and regularly perform with The Butterfly Swing Band.(https://butterflyswingband.com/. The evening will also include two separate acts by Stephanie Abrams who has over 30 years experience as an award-winning mime, contortionist and theater director.(www.kinetictheorytheatre.com) 

In addition, a Purim Schpiel, the satirical re-enactment of the Megillah (scroll) of Esther will be performed. This scroll tells the story behind Purim.

Wild costumes and masks are encouraged. You may come as a character from the Book of Esther, a character from your own imagination, or simply just come as you are.

A cash bar will feature beer and wine from Windham Wines along with finger foods, pastries, non-alcoholic beverages, and Hamentaschen, the special Purim delicacy.
