7th Annual Antiques & Collectible Fundraiser Event

BAJC will hold its 7th Annual Antiques & Collectibles Appraisal Day on Sunday, May 4th from 11am-5pm, at 118 Elliot Street in Brattleboro. There is no admission charge. Appraisals are $10 per item, with a five-item limit per person. Payment can be made by cash or check payable to BAJC.

FIREARMS, KNIVES, AMMUNITION, OR OTHER WEAPONRY,  RUGS LARGER THAN 6’ X 9’ OR BULKY FURNITURE  CANNOT BE ACCEPTED. 

                             10% of proceeds will benefit the Windham County Humane  Society. 

Five specialists Charles Suss, Stephan  Brandstatter, Richard Michelman, Sharon Boccelli and Severia  Drake will be present to evaluate and appraise all categories of  antiques and collectibles such as antiquarian books (signed and  first editions), sterling silver, art glass, objet’s d’art, china, pottery,  oriental rugs, fine art, signed prints, musical instruments, records  and entertainment memorabilia, estate and costume jewelry,  coins, currency, ephemera, photographs, toys, dolls, clocks,  watches, tchotchkes and much more. 

1) Sharon Boccelli: S.B. & Company Auctioneers – has over 40  years buying, selling and appraising antiques, objects of art,  and household furnishings. She studied under the tutelage of  Paul Weiner of Weiners Antiques, a family owned and operated  business for over 100 years, and Henry Postar. She attended  the International Auctioneers School at Douglas Auctions in  Deerfield MA, with high caliber auction professionals learning auction process. Sharon has a firm foundation in the  fundamentals of the auction method of selling. The  International Auction School abides by the Code of Ethics of  the National Auctioneers Association and cooperates fully with  its continuing education program, leading to the advancement  of the auction profession. She holds a current VT Auctioneer  License # 2437. Sharon has resided in Westminster West  Vermont for the past 24 years, serving the communities of  Southern Vermont and beyond, purchasing individual items  and/or complete estates. 

2) Stephan Brandstatter will evaluate recorded music of all  formats and styles, entertainment memorabilia, performing arts,  theatre collectibles, concert posters and merchandise, music  collectibles, autographed items and anything related to music,  theatre and dance. Stephan was the founder and owner/ operator of Mainly Music for 13 years and has over 30 years  experience in this field. He has appraised collections for the  University of Massachusetts, a privately held Edison Disc  collection, and for auctioneers throughout New England,  private collectors and insurance adjusters.  

3) Charles Suss is an experienced, highly respected numismatist  and coin dealer in Bennington at Main St. Antiques  (Bennington). He is an active member of the American  Numismatic Association (A.N.A.), Early American Coppers  (EAC) and Colonial Coin Collectors’ Club (C4). Long active in  Bennington, he was the ‘coin guy’ for Tofel Jewelers, KF  Armstrong Jewelers, and Camelot Village. He will bring gemstone and precious metal test equipment enabling him to make  jewelry appraisals as well as coin pricing guides. 

4) Severia Drake has been in the book business for over 30 years,  from working in libraries, publishing and retail for profit and not for  profit to now managing her own book shop at 399 Canal Street,  Brattleboro. Her website is bywaybooks.co/. In her nonprofit  bookstore capacity she ran annual collectible sales to raise  money for the public library. There she worked with book dealers  and aficionados to appraise an array of out-of-print, vintage,  children’s and special works. She examines for condition,  publication information, author and subject and any special details  such as signed copies, special editions and design. 

5) Richard Michelman: Richard, a local retired high school  teacher, a well known antique dealer / appraiser and has  advised regional auctioneers for the past 40+ years. He’s well  versed in most categories and specializes in Sterling Silver in  particular.  

These knowledgeable appraisers will offer an accurate valuation  of your heirlooms and personal keepsakes based on current  trends and market value. Start checking your closets, basement, attic, under your bed or elsewhere and be amazed or amused as you find out what your prized possessions are worth.
