Yom Shlishi, 2 Adar 5777

BAJC Congregation Shir Heharim offers many ways to be active and involved in our community. Make the most of your temple membership and help our community in the process. Whatever your interest or passion, you will find like-minded folks to help you pursue it.

Here are just some of the avenues available to our members...

BAJC's 1st Annual Sock Drive: Sock a Homeless Person! Ongoing through March 31th of 2017

Due to family illness the Crafting for the Homeless program will cease for this season, but you can still make adifference. BAJC's Social Action Committee is holding its first annual sock drive. Sock a homeless person this season! Did you know that socks are the most needed and least donated item to the homeless in the winter months? Many of us don't take the time to think about homeless people walking all day, but for the most part that is exactly what they do. They need socks. Lots of socks.

Socks will be given out each month when we serve at the overflow shelter, and will be distributed through April of 2017.

We are looking for warm new socks for both men & women. Contact Dara by phone (802-275-7272) or by email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any questions. Donations can  be dropped off at the shul on Wednesday or Sunday afternoons, or there is a drop box at the Brattleboro Municipal Center on the 1st floor. There is also a drop box at the Brattleboro Food Co-op!  Thank you in advance for helping out with this mitzvah.

Make new friends while having fun with your child!
Brattleboro Area Jewish Community is excited to offer a Jewish-based drop-in playgroup for parents/caregivers and their infants and toddlers (0-5 years).

Bagels and Blocks is a facilitated parenting group as well as an activity group for babies and toddlers. These fun and friendly gatherings feature songs, stories, crafts, snacks, and free play.

Join us Sunday, March 5th for a Purim party! Sing songs, hear a story, eat snakcs, play games and make some great new friends!

Playgroups are on the 1st Sunday of each month from 1-3pm.

Playgroups are free and open to all.
We look forward to meeting you!

Purimpalooza 2017! Save the Date! March 11th

Are you feeling frantic? Worn out by the nightly news? In need of encouragement? Don’t despair -- Purim is coming! At 7:00 on March 11 at the Vermont Jazz Center, we’ll let loose, wear wild costumes and masks, vent our rage at evil and oppression by shaking our groggers (noisemakers) at the name of Haman (or any other evil government official you’d like), and retell the story of how one brave undercover Jewish woman saved the whole Jewish people.

However – to make this event all that it can be, We Need You! Can you make something delicious for us to nosh? Even better, can you sing, dance, act, or play an instrument in our fabulous talent show? Please contact Kate, Dara, and Daniel right away – don’t be shy, don’t hesitate! Never have we needed cheering up more than now. Please join the growing crew of musicians and performers ready to share their talents. And yes – we will be acting out that famous story about the rich, not-too-bright, arrogant, grabby King….if you’d like a part in the spiel, let us know!  Special thanks to Eugene Uman for hosting Purimpalooza at the Vermont Jazz Center, 74 Cotton Mill Hill #222.

Community Passover Seder ~ Save the date! April 11th 2017

Click here for a form to attend the seder or to order a chocolate seder plate!

The Passover Seder offered by BAJC offers a joyful opportunity to be with family and friends and to make new connections. The gathering includes food, wine, singing, rituals and long-held traditions. A delicious traditional seder meal, prepared by Sharon Myers Catering, will include ample offerings appropriate for vegetarians.  Once you reserve your spot, follow the directions to contact Laura or Eileen about bringing a dessert or ritual item, such as matzo, hard boiled eggs, etc. and to let them know if you can help with set-up or clean-up.

Mah Jongg every Wednesday at 1:30 pm
